FAME+ (is a platform wherein they promotes Filipino MSME's.) says, Solihiya first became popular in the 19th century, when it was woven to form an airy, flexible, but durable panel. These panels were used as seating and backrests for the intricately carved wooden loveseats from Bulacan, the butaca (a long-armed wood lounge chair), and the simple papag (a wooden daybed without a mattress). I used alternative materials to create my Solihiya
Solihiya are originally made from rattan, however, in my project, I used alternative materials to successfully create this project. In the picture below, I used carton for the framing, dark blue yarn and stapler to hold hold the yarn in the cardboard.

During the process of making this Solihiya, I first used tape before using the stapler to hold the yarn in the frame. As things goes by, the framing of my solihiya was too much flatted because of the stapler. Because of that. I needed to place another cardboard frame to cover all the lapses of the first framing, and it was a success.
